COMPARISON OF THE ABSORPTIVE RESERVOIR SYSTEM WITH THE DIRECT FILLING SYSTEM

Ink flow:

Direct filling system: ensures a generally constant ink flow throughout the entire writing length.

Absorptive reservoir system: continuous writing becomes compromised in the course of its pogressive depletion (ink requires increasingly more time to accumulate in the tip)

Ink fill quantity:

Direct filling system: the entire ink fill quantity is usable

Absorptive reservoir system: only 80% of the ink fill quantity is usable

Ink level monitoring:

Direct filling system:  monitoring the ink level through a level viewing window

Absorptive reservoir system: no monitoring of the ink level

Leading of the cartridge due to pressure differences:

Direct filling system: no leakage, as ink can expand in the ribs (work as a pressure compensation system)

Absorptive reservoir system: leakage at the pen´s tip during changes in pressure or temperature
