HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

Multifunction writing instruments became popular in the 60´s, when prolific writers in particular demand a pen that combines the features of black-lead and document-proof writing.

The 4-colour pens remained relatively popular for several years but have gradually disappeared from the market. 

Today the market offers multifunction pens that go beyond incorporating a pencil and a ballpoint pen, by additionally including a marker ("Tri-Pen") or IT-stylus to safely write on touch-screens of handheld computers.
