COMPARISON WITH BLACK-LEAD PENCILS

Technical design:

The design structure of colour pencils is identical to that of black-lead pencils.

Black-lead:  Graphite and clay

Colour lead: Pigments, fillers and binders.

Colour pencil leads do not undergo a firing process but are dried only, as the sensitive colour pigments would not be able to withstand the high temperatures of the firing process.

Functional principle:

Colour pencils function just like pencils. However, they are usually not erasable or water-soluble.
