The pencil is one of the most environmentally friendly writing instruments ever made.

The lead consists of graphite and clay, both totally safe natural materials.

The company uses wood, a renewable resource, as casings for its leads. Therefore, an extensive reafforestation project was launched in Brazil.  

FABER-CASTELL was the first manufacturer in Germany to lacquer its pencils with environmentally friendly water-based paint.

Waste from pencils and colour pencils does not present any hazard in land-fill disposal or waste incineration.
