The "Secural" process was introduced by FABER-CASTELL in the 1960s.
- Prevents the lead slipping out of the wooden barrel
- Enhances the breaking resistance of the lead, e.g. when dropping the pencil
- Facilitates the sharpening of the pencil
In past: The two slats were only spot-glued.
Nowadays: The lead is firmly bonded along its entire
length to its wooden casing
